I work in a team that supports lab scientists by making in-house desktop and web applications to simplify their workflow
I've developed loads of new skills. Most of these involve programming to some degree.
I've found the programme really challenging but in a positive way. It's helped me become a much more well-rounded employee
The uni programme is well structured, my one complaint would be on the admin side of things. I feel they can make things quite unclear at times.
I receive all the help I need from my employer. I am encouraged to find solutions myself first but there is always support if I really need it.
my lecturers are very nice and willing to help any way they can.
If anything, I feel the work I have done with my employer has helped me perform better for my qualification!
There's plenty of networking events within my department and across the company as a whole. Pre-covid there were also many social events, these have moved online somewhat.
Yes
it's been a hugely rewarding experience, I've learnt a huge deal about both the area of work and myself. The people who work here are friendly and happy to help you develop.
Do your research before you apply. If there is any way to gain some experience in the field you are applying for, don't hesitate to take it.
