My role as a business analayst requires me to check requests from current employees within the organisation and determine if the change is feasible, I then create specifications based upon the needs and send off information to developers who then work on the tasks and I manage these through to completion.
Yes I feel I have developed my leadership skills, as I now have to deal with a lot more senior members of staff to try and get development opportunities over the line. It has given me a greater and broader overview of the business in general as well, which has been a massive help
I enjoy the programme and the different people and roles they hold on it. It is very interesting to find out what other people will use the degree for and how their roles differ from the one that I am currently in. It has been very beneficial for my current role
It is structured well, there have been teething issues with Covid and completing the whole course online, this has lead to a few timetabling issues, but on the whole the course is structured very well and the university is constantly in touch notifying us of any changes that may have been made to the course schedule.
I receive a good amount of support from my employer and am currently in the process of deciding on a high level project that I can use for my final year in order to develop and show off my leadership skills as well as the IT Strategy skills that I am working on.
We all receive a great amount of support from the University and receive our own Skills Coach who we can turn to if we have any issues on the course. The skills coach gives us tuition on a private basis when needed and helps out with non-credit bearing units on the program.
I feel that the first year has been an overview of how we can perform better within our role, whereas the second year will be where we put in to practice what we have actually learnt and demonstarte to the organisation what we can achieve and how the qualification will help us.
No, there aren't any extra-curricular activities to get involved with. There is an annual golf day, but that has been put on hold by COVID, hopefully after COVID there may be more extra-curricular activities we can get involved with as it may boost moral and help out with team building
Yes
The company have been very good in progressing me throughout my career and I would recommend the company to others looking for a job. They are always willing to expand employees both professionally and personally and have handled the COVID situation extremley well, so on that basis I would recommend them to work for.
Be honest, be willing, be enthusiastic. Learn about the company, the products and the industry as a whole and ask questions at the interview stage, it would show enthusiasm and also that you have done some due diligence on the company, this goes a long way when at interview stage
