  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Typically in a day I am involved in all aspects of marketing both traditional and digital. I run social media accounts. This includes planning the content to be posted, scheduling and monitor and engage with any users. I also help plan and launch new campaigns sent via email or other methods. I help out at events, staff communications and employee advocacy.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've learnt a lot of new skills as well as develop many existing skills. Some key skills that I've now developed whilst being in this role include - social media management, time management, meeting deadlines, communication and more. The best skill I've learnt is definitely time management, finding the balance between a degree and full time work is difficult at first.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My experience in the work place is great, I look forward to coming to work every day. I do enjoy the degree apprenticeship and the units that are taught but some sessions can feel like a bit of a drag or are unnecessary filler. Other than that it's mostly very interesting and engaging.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme has done very well in terms of organisation. In the first year there was some cross over between units and deadlines which was quite confusing to deal with. The faculty responded quickly to the pandemic and switched to online teaching very smoothly despite never having run full online teaching sessions before.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer has been incredibly supportive throughout the apprenticeship so far. Nothing is too much trouble and are very flexible with family committments, etc. If I want to develop my skills in a certain area or any equipment is needed, they will go out of their way to make sure that I have everything I need.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The University provides a skills coach who has regular check-ins with you every 2/3 months. They ask you lots of questions and provide guidance on areas you may be struggling in or have any questions. However they do fail to deliver on certain promises sometimes which is really disappointing.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The course runs along my role quite nicely. The course mainly covers the theoretical side of digital marketing and how things should be and the methodology you should apply to certain areas. However the best learning is on the job. The real world situations are the best for learning but there are times where what I have learnt on the course have been useful.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • The company I work in is a small company in terms of staff members, who vary massively in ages and interests. So there is limited social activities to do as it's hard to find something that suits everyone. The pandemic has made this much harder than it used to be.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Signum Solutions to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It's a good company to work for and they care about their staff. They're starting initiatives to listen to the staff more and make sure their needs are met. Management is really nice and very down earth, nothing is ever too much trouble all you have to do is ask.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Signum Solutions?
  • Be yourself! Try and write a nice cover letter so your application stands out, although all CVS will be looked at Make sure you read the job description Make sure your skills match exactly what's being asked for and isn't just a broad match, being accurate is key
