I am a dental nurse. I assist dentists during various treatments and also practice decontamination.
I have learnt how to be a dental nurse and also about duty of care and how to communicate with patients in a professional manner. I have also learnt receptionist skills and decontamination and the rules of waste segregation
I have enjoyed the program although it has been quite challenging at some points. You are very much left to do things yourself and don’t really get much help but in a way thats good because it teaches you how to do things for yourself
The programme was organised quite poorly as there is quite poor communication however the actual programme itself and tasks we have to do is quite structured
We received a lot a lot of support from our practice manager
You don’t really feel like you can ask them questions because they act like you haven't listened and they always encourage you to look in the text book if you have questions but its not always easy to look in a textbook especially since im dyslexic
I didnt feel like much of the qualification helped. You mainly do your learning on the job by learning from other staff.
We often go out for meals
Yes
Its a quick and easy stepping stone to get to where you want in life
Be aware that you will have to buckle down and do things yourself and you will get little help from others r.e. Coursework
