  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the job role as a dental nurse, however the practice itself I have received very minimal training from qualified nurses and had to teach myself/ learn from workbooks which is very challenging. I enjoy meeting new people everyday and the social side of the job. I am enjoy how the job role is fast pace.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very, I have monthly meetings with my trainer where we discuss the next topics and what is required, The trainer is always available to message and answer any queries which is helpful if i am stuck on any work. It is clear how to navigate the website (smart assessor) and view my work, feedback and diary

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • minimal - thrown into surgery without shadowing/meeting any other dental nurses (due to them being furloughed) - no cover when required to come out of surgery for exams/meeting with my trainer so hectic atmosphere, rare that i get my 20% on the job training even when i have made written complaints to my employer about this, been there a year and staff are ‘too busy’ to train me.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • a lot - it is always clear what is required from me and my learning. I have monthly meetings with my training provider where we discuss where I am up to and if i’m ever unsure i can reach my provider on either text, whatsapp or email to get a response

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Very well, as stated before, the majority of my learning is through the training provider and not the employer. The dentists at my job role do help and encourage me to understand what equipment is needed and when but in regards to learning to be a dental nurse, the training provider has helped massively

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • no, i would enjoy doing this and appreciate getting to know my team better and on a personal level but we are not offered any extra curricular activities and i have never seen any of my colleagues outside of the working environment which is a shame especially as i feel like that would help settle in new employees

  • 9a. Would you recommend Rosehill dental practice to a friend?
  • No

  • 9b. Why?
  • All the dentists are lovely people and I am in no way saying otherwise but on the training side it is poor. I have decided to leave the practice during my course as i have raised all concerns with the employer and it was not dealt with. I have enjoyed meeting all the staff and hope that we all stay in touch.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Rosehill dental practice?
  • I would like them to know that all the dentists at rosehill are really nice and helpful but there is very little organisation or time for training. It has been good to be thrown in at the deep end in regards to being in surgery all day everyday with minimal training as i had to discover how a good nurse works myself and i have learnt what works best for me.
