  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I rod and rope underground ducts to prepare for new fibre cables to be put in for customers internet. I then return and pull through all necessary fibre cables such as COF and CBT’s etc. Making sure to attach these to brackets/arms where applicable and securing in boxes

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Everything I have learned so far on the job is all new to me. I had no previous experience with any tools or equipment that we use and had no prior knowledge to how the internet fibre network actually works! Also I learned how to drive a big van safely

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • So far I am absolutely loving it. The training has been incredible and really engaging and fun. Working in the teams we have been has been great. It’s been a very eye opening job so far and I hope it continues! It’s been a huge learning curve for me too

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The whole training process has been flawless. I have learned more in the last 5 weeks than I have in the last 6 years! Everything has run incredibly smoothly and I can’t fault it at all. Everybody from trainers to managers to our buddy’s have been extremely supportive

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I am yet to meet anybody in the company who isn’t 100% enthusiastic and helpful and eager to teach me anything I want to learn. They answer questions and train me incredibly well and everybody is always happy to help. My managers are also very helpful with any enquiry’s i have

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have emailed them multiple times with different questions and queries and have always received not only quick responses but VERY helpful and polite responses too. They are always on hand to help out with anything we ask and seem genuinely interested in making sure we get the correct training

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Without the training, I would be hopeless at the job. I had no prior knowledge at all and have learned so much through the training process that I would never have been able to do! Without it, I would not be able to do my job at all! It’s been brilliant

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Since I’ve only been with the company a short while, I haven’t had a chance to look into possibilities of any of these activities. However, everybody I have met so far is so friendly that I could definitely see myself joining in on these kind of activities in future

    10/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend BT Group to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is the kind of job you can join without any qualifications and it doesn’t matter to anybody in the company what you can and can’t do prior to joining. As long as you’re a hard worker you get all the support you could possibly ask for

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT Group?
  • Be yourself, be friendly and have a good work ethic and ready to learn. They teach you a lot in the first few weeks but they ensure you understand everything along the way and reassure you that you will be a professional at it when you come to actually doing the work
