  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work as a business manager, coordinating people, product and equipment to efficiently and effectively meet the needs of customers and in turn delivery business results for the company. I manager all aspects of business financials, including budget creation, sales management, inventory controls, financial efficiencies, scheduling employees, sourcing materials and marketing.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have enhanced my currently job role skills- I now have a wider understanding of business methods and how best to influence business results. I have learned about legislative controls that govern businesses, methods of marketing and how to creative business proposals for new businesses and start up companies looking for funding.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the degree. M a heater met were always engaging, informative and on hand with support. The degree has opens up opportunities to improve not just my skills, but the wider performance of the business in which I have direct influence. I have had the ability to address business opportunities and create imaginative solutions to real issues

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Manchester met organised the structure very well. The modules met the learning needs of the students at a rate which was manageable. There could be more communication between McDonald’s and the learning provider about the appropriateness of content- some modules we knew a lot about such as managing and leading people and safety in the work place.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • They gave me more support when I asked for it. But the support was surface level and at times the pressure of the job was hard to manage alongside the degree- it greatly impacted stress levels and my personal well-being. That being said, the learning experience of this has made me a better manager

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Manchester met organised the structure very well. The modules met the learning needs of the students at a rate which was manageable.   • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I can confidently say it has improved my ability. My work is of a better quality and completed efficiently. I have a wider awareness of business methods and possible solutions to issues- and can think outside the box to fix things in new and unique ways for our business

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Social events have been restricted due to Covid 19z the employee didnt grant opportunities for networking along side the job role and the studying. Within my restaurant we usually encourage social events every 6 months- days out, meals, party, sports day, cinema trips, social gatherings, employee meetings and get togethers

  • 9a. Would you recommend McDonald's to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • They attract people who openly embrace a challenge. The bonds you make in McDonald’s last for a long time, if not a life time. The job is high stress and team work is vital and essential for success and therefore friendships naturally form in the workplace. It’s a flexible job too


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to McDonald's?
  • Be open to a challenge and high pressure environment. The job role is flexible and offers lots of opportunities for progression, or to balance work around your studies or other commitments. The job teaches many soft skills and developed communication across all levels. The company is growing rapidly and you have the change to be apart of their success
