Everyday is different being an engineer within Openreach. My main role is to install fibre broadband to customers premises/buildings. I also assist with other engineers as well as fixing faults that may arise.
Everyday is a learning day for me. I came from a background of not holding a drill before. Each day, I learn something new about my job role.
The team meetings are great craic. I feel very comfortable with my group and our NVQ instructors.
I can not fault it at this minute in time. Very well organised and communication within our group is superb.
The support I have been given is second to none. There is always someone on the end of the phone to help and support me when I need it.
At the minute, I haven't needed much help. However, I know they are always on the other side of the phone if I need help or support. I feel very comfortable with Natalie in our team meetings.
I have yet to complete a module within my qualification. I have no doubt I will learn a lot throughout the duration of this qualification.
Due to covid, there is very little opportunities to do so. I am sure this will change once life becomes a little more normal again.
Yes
By far the best decision I have made joining Openreach. Not only do you have a network of colleagues who support you throughout your working day, I will also gain a qualification out of this. Couldn't speak more highly of my job and the organisation.
Take a risk. Because the risk will pay off. It may seem daunting at first but you will become a highly skilled engineer at the end it. It doesn't matter what background you come from in terms of work. You will learn new skills and excel here.
