  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a business support apprentice and so I assist with administrative tasks. This means I assist sale coordinators, art transport and shipping with creating contracts and creating the correct paperwork for transport. I also assist in health checks, in which the health of a sale is examined before it goes live. It is quite a busy role and so you are always doing something.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt an abundance of skills from this apprenticeship, as my role is focused on learning lots of different processes and how to do administrative tasks. Therefore, I have majorly improved my IT skills. I have also developed my decision making and interpersonal skills. I have also become more professional as a result of working in a large company.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed my apprenticeship so far. I have learnt so many valuable skills that I wouldn't get from going to university, that I can directly apply to the work place. I have quite a large team who are all super supportive and when it gets busy, everyone works together to get through it.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is well organised. As soon as I started I received inductions, and all the relevant training that I needed. As my job is so based on using all these different IT programmes, it meant I had to learn a lot, but it was never overwhelming. Everyone in the team were supportive, and helped me when I needed it. I also have plenty of studying time for my assignments, and so the programme is well balanced.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • There is a good amount of support at Christie's. My line manager is incredibly supportive, and I always know that I can go to her if I need to. The HR team are also supportive, and I know how to get in touch with them. There is a mentor scheme, and I have signed up for it and am waiting for them to get back.

  • Multiverse are very supportive. My coach is lovely, and I can easily get in contact with her if I need to. She is very supportive and listens and knows how to get the best out of you. I am enjoying the programme, and if I am struggling, I can easily get assistance from my coach.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Through my qualification, I am learning business knowledge that can help me in my role. It helps me to understand the business better. Also, by learning about KSB's, I have started to be more confident and do things I wouldn't normally have done so that I can hit the KSB's, and do better in my role. I feel that as a result I know more about how Christie's works, and so I can be a more valuable colleague,

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Every week my team has a quiz, and so that is a nice break from the busy week at work. Because of coronavirus, there haven't been the normal events, however we have had some virtual apprentice events such as an escape room. There was also a Christimas quiz for the whole company, and there was a wine tasting charity event. You can also sign up for training, I have attended a talk on the Greek and Roman Gods and Goddesses, and achieved a training in art law from Christie's education.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Christie's to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Christie's is a great place to work, my team are incredibly friendly. There are a lot of extra things you can do at Christie's that you don't get at every work place, such as Christie's education training, events and getting into museums and art galleries in London for free. As I am a huge lover of art, Christie's is a great place to work.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Christie's?
  • Get some work experience in a gallery or a museum, as that shows that you are proactive, and are passionate about the role. Also, just showing in general that you are passionate and really want to work at Christie's. In regards to interviews, just try to relax as everyone is really friendly, and just be prepared for the questions they ask.
