My current role is in marketing and capability development, organizing awareness sessions about our client for the various industries to generate engagement. I also organize training sessions, monitor the number of those trained and contact those who are interested in expanding their skills. I create presentations for calls and marketing material.
Yes, I have been able to learn new coding skills in Python and Java which I haven't previously come across. I have been able to develop my website development skills in HTML, CSS and a little JavaScript. There are wide training and skills opportunities available to watch videos, webinars and interactive sessions. I have been able to upskill in new upcoming technologies and marketing areas along with cloud and data modules.
I do enjoy this programme as it has allowed me to explore and develop both my technical and non-technical skills becoming familiar with the working world and how to put these skills to practice in the workplace. This programme enables me to upskill in both new areas and previous knowledge to help me to decide where I would like to be in the future within my company.
The programme has been well organized but has been a learning curve due to being a new job. it was welcoming and clearly thorough in the induction and bootcamp training at the start of the programme where we were also assigned to 'buddies' who are also current apprentices. Support was given to the structure of the organization and tasks needed to complete going forward. I would have preferred to have been able to receive all of the information and access prior to starting the university course/modules to have full access to learning materials.
I receive a large amount of support from my employer during this programme with guidance if I have problems and support when I need it. By being assigned a 'buddy' and having regular catch-up calls as been very beneficial being a new apprentice and keeping in-touch when working from home. Having a career counsellor has been beneficial when providing guidance to support my career journey.
I am given support by my tutors when struggling with work. This has been slightly more difficult when working/learning from home but I have felt that I have had support if needed. By having regular contact with my coach has been beneficial to monitor my progress made, areas for improvement and how I am finding the course with support to problems as they arise.
I definitely believe that this qualification helps perform better in my role giving me different perspectives of the work of work and incorporating improvements into my role. As the course is relatively new I haven't explored a large variety of areas yet and with my role not being technical it has been challenging, however I have felt that this qualification will help to know more about my industry particularly as my role develops.
There are extra side-of-desk activities to take part in or provide assistance to within the workplace whether that be helping out a different role, organizing events or presenting events. This has been slightly more difficult due to working from home, however there have been plenty of virtual events to get involved to such as at Christmas, meeting the leaders and their career journey and social events.
Yes
It is a great place to work with a large sense of community. The employees are very supportive and keen to provide assistance when needed in their day-to-day schedule. Everyone is hardworking and there is a large range of roles and events to get involved with or help to organize.
My advice would to showcase what makes you stand out and to be yourself. Showing your enthusiasm for wanting to learn, work hard and work with the latest technology is vital. Understanding that you don't have to have a large background in technology as there is a large amount of support and opportunities to upskill in. Be prepared for the interview/assessment and have a rough understanding of where you'd like to see yourself in 5 years time.
