Studying / College and on the job placements, time is mainly split between time at college working towards your NVQ, time at the Acton Depot where you learn job specific stuff related to your role and time on placement out working with various teams around TFL.
Yes, I'm currently 4 weeks into me Apprenticeship and I'm already at college working towards my Engineering NVQ, leaning to work with our hands and the basics of project management. We've also been learning tract and electrical safety with TFL.
I would rate my experience with TFL 10/10 at present, the pay is good considering were mostly at college for the first 6 months. The culture at the company is great, the resources available for you and the investment in you is fantastic and there is plenty to learn.
Very well, there has been some minor organisational issues but this is mainly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, other than that there is a clear path of study and support, a clear timetable of work and what's expected of you, the training and development is excellent.
All managers and trainers I have met have had a genuine desire to see you succeed , have been great with their availability and support, there is a wealth of knowledge and resources at your disposal.
So far I have been placed at CONEL College, the facilities and tutor have been very good, extremely supportive and are there to see you succeed.
What we are learning on our NVQ qualification is relevant to our job role, I feel I am learning hands on skills that are transferable. I feel as though I am learning a great deal and will be well set up for when I go on work placement.
Yes, there are many groups and societies to join and take part in, TFL is a massive company covering the entirety of London and there are plenty of groups to join and take part in.
Yes
A big company that invests loads of recourses in you to see you develop and learn, they want their apprentices to be the future of the company, there are many career paths to choose from and the pay is excellent.
Do your research into the roles available and learn exactly what kind of work they involve, this will help you greatly in the application process, because of covid the assessment day was online and was and interview followed by a mechanical and electrical knowledge test but more common sense than anything.
