  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My main role on a day to day basis is to manage the self delivery tracker for all works undertaken on site as well as managing several small/large subcontractor accounts. This includes obtaining a measure and assessing each subcontractor application within the given time frame to ensure the contract and project requirements are met.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme I am doing is very interesting and I enjoy it greatly. This is mainly down to the fact that every day consists of different activities with exposure to different sectors of construction and the business. Working alongside highly experienced staff is also a bonus as I have all the help around me that I may need.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is structured fairly well as I am able to take one day a week off in order to undertake my studies. As the studies are all online it is also very flexible with whatever day suits best, meaning if work is busy during the week I can plan around it.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Within work I receive all the support that I may need to ensure that my job is completed to a high standard, whilst being efficient and effective. However, there is very little support in terms of the academic side as this is mainly left down to myself on the one day off a week.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training provider can provide support whenever required. There are many forums and emails you are able to contact in order to gain any information that you may require. Although sometimes it may take a while to obtain the information from them. Overall I would say that the support is good.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Currently there is very little crossover with what duties I undertake in work and the studies I complete with my training provider. This is mainly due to me working within the civils industry of construction as the qualifications are tailored around main construction works, however there has been a couple sections cross over within law.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • As far as I am aware there is only a five a side football team with colleagues through work. However, due to coronavirus there has been no social activities for the last year. This could mean that there may be more social activities available that I am not currently aware of.

  • 9a. Would you recommend John Sisk & Sons to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • John Sisk and Son is a great company to work for as you always feel valued as an employee, no matter what job role or level you work at. The company is full of support and helpful members of staff wherever you go and if there are ever any issues there is always somebody available to help.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to John Sisk & Sons?
  • I would advise them to be themselves, work hard and enjoy the experience of working in the construction industry on large projects across the UK and Europe. Always take on extra work where you can to help out the rest of the team as well as being happy to help anybody that may ask.
