I manage a team of tutors in education supporting learners to complete apprenticeships, my role involves allocating tutors to learners, supporting the team with any issues and queries, completing supervisions with staff members and maintaining key performance indicators for the team which will help the business as a whole. I also will support in bringing new business to the company and managing existing customers and stakeholders.
I have gained a variety of new skills since starting my apprenticeship. I am aware of new skills in assessing not only myself but members of my team, communication skills have improved throughout the course, learning to lead and manage a team which i have never done before as well as having an understanding of the finances of a business have all been important to me.
The program is a lot of work but it is enjoyable, there are group sessions which have been valuable as they have given the opportunity to share ideas and meet new people. I also enjoy the resources provided and the activities we are involved in throughout the course, they are very interactive.
The programme is very structured, i have a group session once a month that is booked for the full duration of the course, a one to one session every month that is also pre planned and regular reviews of my progress with my training and development officer and my manager.
My employer is very supportive, especially at the beginning of my apprenticeship, they provided me with one to one support and gave me a lot of time to shadow in the role to observe the main tasks that needed to be completed and regular reviews of my progress also took place.
The training provider is also very supportive of my progress as well, they have given me high targets to achieve but have given me the time and resources required to help me get to this point, they have adapted the program to suit my needs and my preferred learning style and have always been available when i have needed extra support and guidance.
The qualification will support me in the role as it has given me an insight and an introduction into so many areas i didn't have experience in prior. I could not have completed the job role to the level i am currently performing with the course to give me the knowledge and the review of the practical skills i am developing.
Due to the impact of the pandemic this has been mixed but new initiatives have started recently, a new social networking platform has been produced, there are regular catch up calls with the senior leadership team for the company which includes all levels of the business to provide updates and new charity initiatives have been put in place which are team based so we get a chance to communicate and socialize in a fun way while helping other.
Yes
I feel like this company have given me the opportunity to develop, i was hired in a different role and within a year was offered the chance to complete a management apprenticeship and progress within the company, at other places i have worked this has not been the case and i feel valued with the work i am doing and supported with the apprenticeship i am completing by the apprenticeship provider.
Be open and honest and try not to be too nervous, applying can be stressful but if you are prepared and are aware of what is required it is easier. I found the process easier than i expected and i cannot fault anything based on my experience over the last year-eighteen months since starting with Realise.
