  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day to day job role includes updating relevant people of payment received by customers. I also check prices on invoices received as well as making sure the total summaries for the day are correct. My job role also includes sending out statements to customers and chasing them for payment.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • During my apprenticeship at the company I have learnt many skills I did not expect to learn. I have gained communication skills which I didn’t know required improvement and working as a team is very important in order to make sure everything is kept up to date and recorded properly.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme a lot, the modules are bearable even with working full time! My employer gives me set time off to complete the programme and it is easily understood and it was very adaptable during the coronavirus pandemic. The centre is nice and modern and the exams take place there too

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well organised, workbooks are split into chapters and I am aware what the next week will hold. The course is at the same time every week even during the times when we were required to meet on zoom. The tutor is always on time and waiting to begin.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer could not offer more support in regards to the programme, I am paid for my study time and all exams as well as being able to adapt my times in case of any changes in relation to times or days for the course. My employer frequently asks what I have learnt in the course and where I would like to progress to.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification through my training provider helps me to perform better in my role as it helps me understand the basics of accounting as well as some more complex financial statements. This has helped me to use new accounting software and apply my knowledge from the programme to my daily activities at work.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Currently there are no extra curricular activities to be involved in at my work. This is due to it being only a small company with around 20 employees. The business do offer several social networking with staff and team building events, usually twice a year and a Christmas party once a year with employee of the year also being included.

  • 9a. Would you recommend SR Mailing to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend this company to a friend as they could not offer any more support! They are a fun loving, eco friendly, caring company who only want to watch people grow and adapt. They looked after their staff during the coronavirus pandemic by sending out food and PPE and they donated several masks and hand sanitisers to those who needed it most including care homes and hospitals. They go above and beyond for anybody who comes in to contact with them!

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to SR Mailing?
  • The best advice I would give somebody applying to this company would be to be yourself, be up for a laugh as well as behaving in a professional manner when it is necessary. Be passionate about what you are applying to do and do not join for the sake of ‘just a job’ as you will not enjoy the experience. Apply for something you really are passionate about and want to learn more about.
