My day involves following round the maintenance team, fault finding on instrumentation to work out the issue and then resolve this issue to keep the instrumentation working
I have gained qualifications in engineering, completed manual handling courses and working towards low voltage electrical qualifications also
I enjoy this apprenticeship program a lot, this is because I am learning a lot of information about the job I will be doing once I have finished as well as working with helpful and interesting colleagues
The program at work is well structured and I know when my meetings are and when I need to hand in my work. However, the college side of the program has been a shambles, partly due to the pandemic, and partly due to the colleges incompetence and unpreparedness
I receive support as and when I need it, it is not a continuous stream of help but when I ask for help, I will usually get it quickly
I receive plenty of support from my training provider
My qualification helps me perform better as I think about this jobs I am carrying out more in depth so that I can complete for informative write ups
There are a couple but not many recently due to the pandemic
Yes
I have found that Thames Water is a great place to work, it is an interesting job as well as a great work life balance
I would say that it is worth applying no matter what, I applied on the off chance I would get the opportunity to work for Thames and I got the job, you don't always need an engineering background, just a good interest and willingness to learn
