Enable children’s safety on a day to day basis and provide them with stimulating activities and lots of fun. Set routine which is the same every day including things such as giving them their dinner and letting them access refreshments during the day. Making sure they’re happy and feel safe at nursery.
During my time as an apprentice I learned all new skills. Such as how to deal with challenging behaviour and praising behaviour that was very good. Being able to learn what a healthy lunch for children includes. How to work well in a team and all around how to make nursery a safe environment.
During my 2 year apprenticeship working with children. I very much enjoyed the programme. Working was like home from home. Everyone was friendly and making special bonds with the children was so rewarding. Making them feel safe and to know you’re going a good job is a very good feeling.
My programme was very well structured. I would have time out of my working day to complete coursework and I would have a good time frame to get it all completed by. My assessor was very friendly and that made trying to learn very much easier, especially during exams and tests.
I received a lot of support from my employer due to them also wanting me to get my qualification. I would always receive help if I needed it and felt happy to ask questions. This made getting it done enjoyable and being able to get it done effectively was the best thing.
I received a good amount of support from my employer. Mostly when they came to visit me at my work place every so often. Email was used mostly when help was needed but no one was accessible. They also have resources which was very helpful as I could go online and research what I needed.
It gave my qualification to then be recognised by employers but also taught valuable skills on how to really be able to deal with children and know what’s in their best interest. Especially when it comes to safeguarding and making sure everyone is safe and feels happy when a a childcare setting.
As far as extra curricular activities go I didn’t know of any. The only social activity was a staff meeting on Saturdays to make sure everyone is up to date and following procedures. Staff are able to meet up and plan activities and this happened a lot due to it being a friendly place and a lot of friendships were made.
Yes
I would recommend this workplace because I enjoyed it so much myself that I would happily go back there. I know it’s a fun place to work and friendships are always being made and the children are lovely as well as the parents. It’s a all around good nursery.
Be honest and show what experience you have, make sure you’re friendly and don’t be shy. Everyone who works their is lovely bad you will be able to have a good joke around while being able to work at the same time. Boding with children and making them happy is all worth it!
