As a Team Leader my job was to take care of day to day operations, to take care of residents' wellbeing, to complete weekly and monthly audits, to make sure my staff works as a team and that they feel confident and supported when carry out their duties, to make sure all relevant paperwork is in service, reviewed and updated regularly etc.
I would say I did. I feel that my communication skills improved during this time, but also that along the way I gained lot of knowledge that will be useful to me to progress further and keep building my carrier. I definitely learned more about laws and regulations and how to be in line with those and provide good quality care.
Even though working and 'studying' at the same time can be hard and time consuming, I did enjoy my program very much. It was an amazing experience. During my program I got to learn new things and to grow professionally. I feel like doing it, was my effort and time well invested. I would highly recommend it.
I was happy with the structure of my program and with the help and support I was getting, both from my mentor and assessor. They were leading me step by step through the many areas new to me, helping me to understand and implement all those new things into my daily working.
My manager, who was also my mentor, was very supportive and helpful through the whole process. She was always there to answer my questions and to offer help. She was also providing mental support on days when I felt that juggling between hectic day at work and education was a bit too much (didn't have too many of those days though :) )
My training provider is amazing. My assessor was a brilliant lady who was there almost 24/7 for any help and support needed. Always in a good mood, always positive and optimistic. She was also very supportive and understanding at times when time at work was getting hectic. She was very knowledgeable and having discussions with her about issues I encountered helped a lot on a few occasions. I felt that she was really there to help me get where I wanted to be at the end of it, and I highly appreciate amount of effort she was putting into every session, and in anything in a between.
For the started it allowed me to gain formal knowledge that, later on, I could incorporate into my daily working practice. It also provided support along the way, if I was unsure or did not feel confident in certain area, I felt like they were having my back and were there to help out.
Unfortunately that kind of activities were not available at the time of my apprenticeship. I personally feel that is a bit of downfall since they could be really helpful to keep teams together. But again, my apprenticeship was at the time of covid pandemic so this was the reason why even preexisting activities coul not be carried out.
Yes
I do understand that each individual is different, but for me, I feel like I found everything I need in this company, and even though it is a general trend nowadays that people are changing their jobs often, I am hoping to stay where I am for a long time.
Same ones that I would give to anyone applying anywhere for a new job. Do your best each day, no matter if someone is watching or not, respect your colleagues and be authentic self. These are things that, I learnt from experience, are important, and are key for the success.
