My role consists of many different tasks throughout the day, including sleep checks, assisting with supervision at lunch/snack time, assisting with general supervision of children in their play, assisting with the leading of circle time and adult led activities, nappy changing, assisting with the planning and setting out of activities, and assisting with the writing of accident/incident/preexisting accident/etc forms. In my setting all staff members assist with each task so there are few completely individual roles. One individual role of mine, however, would be the supporting of and engaging with my key children.
I've learned so many new skills since starting at my setting, for example changing nappies and hygiene procedures for things like snack/lunch time, and, growing up around children, ive been able to develop my knowledge in topics such as the most appropriate ways to communicate, and being more knowledgeable on the signs and indicators of abuse (through external sources such as my college course).
I enjoy my programme a lot, with both my setting and training provider being both approachable to ask for help and easy to talk to. They are both also very understanding and very in depth with any explanations, being sure that i understand before continuing. My setting also had a lot of job "shadowing" when i first started to be sure that there was no confusion with what i had to do and how it had to be done.
I would say my programme is very well organised and structured.
I receive a lot of support from my employer, both in the workplace and with providing external learning sources. I also receive a lot of support from the other staff members as well as my employer.
I also receive a lot of support from my training provider in terms of help and guidance when working towards my qualifications, again with being able to provide other sources from which i can gather information and research, whilst still being able to get support and guidance from my actual training provider. I feel comfortable being able to ask for help and my training provider is also fairly accessible at all times.
I feel as though having the background information for the tasks i perform daily gives me a more in depth perception of what my role is and i feel more knowledgeable about what i do and also why i do it.
I personally haven't looked into it however i don't think that there are.
Yes
Because the communication and understanding between the staff members and manager
The application process and interviews were fairly straightforward for me, and the experiences and opportunities have been amazing (although set back because of covid), however, as with anything, it can be difficult to keep on top of things when there is work from both the setting, with key children and research and planning and outside courses to complete, and training provider.
