Typically I'll get in early in the morning to search for accounts either in the sales list or to request, from here I'll do some admin often emails until around 10. I spend the majority of my deal contacting customers and vendors and then finish off my day with admin and sometimes some more account searching
Yes I have learnt a lot of things. Mainly being around customer relationship management but I have also learned a lot about how to approach situations in which you don't know the answer or best practices to. This is because we have a very wide portfolio so most opportunities are a fresh challenge
I enjoy my programme a lot which has led to me enjoying work much more than I originally thought I would. I think this is testament to the company culture and how they make work enjoyable as a whole whether this be with internal activities or just day to day.
The programme is very well structured. We have a 80/20 scheme which is 80% on the job learning and 20% dedicated to our coursework and learning via training with our partner. We have plenty of time to complete our coursework whilst still gaining the experience of a full time account manager
We receive plenty of our support from our employer and specifically our Apprentice manager in all areas. Like mentioned earlier as our portfolio is so wide we need a lot of support as many opportunities are new. The team are great with advising what the best way to approach these opportunities are to provide the best solution for the customer
We receive plenty of support towards our qualification side. We're encouraged to use as much time as we need to complete these and remit our partners are very engaged and committed to ensuring that we're receiving all the support that we need to complete our portfolios to the best standard we can
Our training helps us with our role as it prepares us to face any challenges that we come across in a role. For example we had training on how to speak to c level people and just a few days later I found myself booking a call in with a CIO
There are loads of extra curricular activities, for example I've just joined the Marlow golf society and am playing with 40 other colleagues on Wednesday. This is useful as it allows us to network within the business, I've ended up playing with the highest performing account manager in softcat history!
Yes
Great company that's fun to work for with great earning potential also. I really couldn't ask for much more as a employee. For whatever reason if you don't feel as if Account Management is the role for you Softcat are great are placing you into other roles that fit you well.
Ensure that you're self motivated and you'll do well! Also throw yourself in the deep end early both in a company culture sense and with the role so for example delving into IT strategies for businesses as a Account Manager. This lets you learn quickly and that's how you achieve the best results.
