my role is a build engineer, this means that i am basically a project manager. every month we start digging up the streets in a new place. it is my job to make sure they are doing this to plan, following standard. once they have finished it is my job to measure the compeleted works
yes. i have learnt a lot of new skills. one of the most important one is to be able to speak to anyone. in my role i get a lot of members of the public asking questions and sometimes complaining so i quickly learnt how to deal with certain situations
to be honest, the role job is not what i expected however, once i got an understanding of what my role was and what is actually included then i was happy. my training provider is not the best meaning that a lot of my NVQ work i still do not understand so this is not good
Since i am the first apprentice in this role with my team. i think it is very well structured and organised from virgin media. if there was anything i was unsure about then my manager would help or find out for me. however, from my training provider i think it could be better. there is a lot of confusion around the work i am required to complete
I receive alot of support from my employees. i could not ask for a better team. my manager happily helps with any questions or troubles i have. everyone in my team has taught me something new since they all have different experience. i know i can ask them anything at any time and i will get an answer
i do not receive much information or support. it takes a while to get an answer and the answers are not always clear. the training provider does not explain very well and just goes over the same information each time i ask how to complete something. there is a lot of confusion over the work
My qualification through my training provider and through my college have nothing to do with my role at all. my role is more of a project manager then a civil engineering so i am learning all about civil engineering however none of it helps in my current role at virgin media.
Yes. me and my team do monthly engagement activities and there is always sporting events and activities i can take part in to meet other people. there are always extra courses we can take to get a better understanding of things that we might not really need however if we are interested in
Yes
Virgin Media are very employee based. there is a lot of benefits of working with virgin media, such as the progression, the people, the connections, the discounts, the holidays and much more. everyone i have met here as been very friendly and tried to help in anyway they can. they allow you to try and better yourself
be yourself. do you research into current projects and up coming projects. on interview day try and stand out, take control of the activity, ask questions on the role and tell them what you can bring to them. tell them you are wanting to progress over the years and that you want to learn.
