My role is part of a small team that is responsible for processing registrations, entries, issuing results and certificates as well as other ad-hoc tasks as and when required. we are also second line support for Account Services who are the first line support for learning centres. We also support other teams within the business when requested.
Yes, I've learned various new skills and really developed existing roles. My apprenticeship has changed the way I look at tasks and has helped me to know how much impact my role has in helping others. It has given me more confidence when assisting others and given me the opportunity to progress into other areas alongside my daily role.
I enjoy it a lot. I've had to do Functional Skills English and Mathematics as part of my Apprenticeship, this has highlighted just how much of what I learned in my younger days at school had been forgotten and lost. It's also helped me look at the bigger picture and the wider affect my performance has within the company and also with external customers as well.
This is quite a hard one to answer as ther have been a lot of changes mid-way through the programme and this caused a lot of confusion for me. I have also had different trainers throughout the programme and I'm currently on my third one. This isn't a negative though, my trainers have got better and better and I've been given additional support to bring back the Maths skills.
I receive a lot of support from my employer. It has been difficult at times to balance the needs of the business and time spent on my apprenticeship but any time lost on my apprenticeship when we've been really busy has been given back and probably a little more after the bulk of the workload has been cleared.
I receive a lot of support. My current trainer is amazing. she has explained exactly what is required and how to put together pieces of work that cover all of what is needed to meet the required evidence for my qualification. I also get support with mathematics and Lynn, who supports in this area, has a way of explaining things that makes it easy to understand.
I think it helps a lot. as mentioned before, I now think about things and look at things in a different way. I am aware of how important my performance is in my role and the impression this leaves with customers. It's also helped me think of alternative solutions to problems and to question processes if I feel there is an opportunity to improve them.
Yes, we have a Sports & Social Club where we look to do things outside of work. This helps with team building but also networking as it includes people from both our Fretwell Road and Lowton offices here in Hellaby. Unfortunately the current pandemic situation has meant that there have been no events for a while but I'm sure things will return to normal at some point.
Yes
I feel Pearson are a great company to work for. The working environment is a good one and having previously worked in many call centres I can honestly say it's a refreshing change. You're allowed to just get on with your work and it's a very supportive environment. Everyone is friendly, really everyone. From Directors to colleagues in eProcessing the whole feeling is support and growth.
Be yourself rather than what you may think the employer may be looking for. Be open and honest. It seems to me that Pearson care just as much about the person as they do the qualifications that come with you. Don't be afraid you might not fit in, you will!
