My role within the factory is to assist in the day to day operation of the plant this means learning packages on the line to assist should another person be ill or unavailable I also cover the stations I am signed off on so that other staff can be repositioned for additional training
I have learned several new skills including the operation of lathes and mills aswell as building to a time limit and within tolerances
It is a very engaging program and apprentices are encouraged to branch out
Unfortunately due to covid I have to say the course has been very hard to follow not being on college or work and without the support offered by these locations myself and sone others have found it more difficult
Now we are back at work both college and work have made a massive push to help us through the last couple of months of our course
We are receiving additional support from college due to the covid situation
I feel this course is very good for what we need to know it over prepares us to perform our roles teaching us skills such as welding and soldering aswell as hand fitting and working machine tools
Not that I am aware off that are organised by work however there are a few people who play for other local teams I think it would be nice to get some more team building opportunities with the associates on the line to help reinforce the one team philosophy of our company
Yes
Over my time there I have been made to feel really welcome by both teams as I work a permanent early shift pattern they have trained me and I can now perform on three main stations unsupervised my learning experience although hampered by covid has been enjoyable
Be yourself in your interview and do a little research before heading in on the history of the company as this will help you
