My role involves ensuring all our scanners, conveyor and other equipment are maintenanced properly and regularly as well as ensure everything is safe to use
I've developed my confidence as well as technical knowledge and team working skills. During my apprenticeship I've learnt new hand fitting methods and new manufacturing processes
I enjoy it in the sense that I can work while learning and learn in a mainly working environment rather than always classroom.
In regards to Sheffield College, the work has never been properly organised, and I've always had a few tutors or teachers that had no idea what they were doing and didn't know their students enough to know which work they're supposed to be doing.
I get plenty of support, if anything I get too much so no complaints there
I've started to received much more support since Sheffield College have employed a new tutor. but before I had very little suport from them. However, I will rate my experience based off the support I received from my new tutor, previously to that it would've been 4/10
It's helped me perform better in my role as I think more throughly about manufacturing parts myself to in repair tasks that I would've otherwise had to outsource and purchase
Yes there are plenty of other activities (before COVID) that my workplace offers. A sports and social club is really popular here as well as mental health workshops etc.
Yes
Great place to work, pay very generously and always a great team. Only complaint is that engineers very often have to get involved in tasks that aren't engineering related but apart from that it's a fantastic place to work and would recommend to anyone. Also the reason why I've been going above and beyond to try and see if there will be jobs available so that my family can join
Just be honest and have a great working attitude. It's a great company so they would expect you to do your greatest too
