my role is an engineering technician, on a day to day this means i am working with quality specialists and teams of associates to find ways to improve the quality, processes or systems in the plants. this can vary from directly working with the cars to working on the logistics systems within the plant.
i have learnt many new skills during my time in the apprenticeship, i have learnt about 5s, productivity as well as practical skills such as milling, drilling, turning, hand skills, electrical wiring, soldering, welding and fluid power. i have built on my skills of using computer software such as CAD and putting together more proficiency in excel
i enjoy my programme a lot of the time. most days it is like going to work with my friends everyday and it is very enjoyable. sometimes though it can be very stressful, sometimes unorganised and this makes it harder. mostly though it is an enjoyable course to be on
the general structure is very good, the 3 monthly placements are well organized. however when in the placements sometimes the day to day structure can be unorganized and sometimes having lots of free time where not much is going on, this has been exaggerated this year due to COVID however it is understandable.
I receive a lot of support from my employer, whenever i need help with work related or college related issues my training manager is always happy to help.
i receive a enough support from my training provider.
my qualification helps me to understand manufacturing processes
at the moment no due to covid
