  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Providing customers with their new network, via overhead or underground. This is new superfast fibre broadband which instead of being fibre to the cab, it now goes fibre to the premises.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt loads of new skills recently because this is a new job. This includes how to splice the connection point, provide the new cable to the house etc.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the fact that even though its the same job doing each day, its completely different locations and the job itself is different from one to another.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is very well organised due to you know what jobs you are doing on a day to day basis.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We receive a lot of help from our employers because there is a lot of help put in place. Whether that be phone numbers we can call or speaking to our patch manager/leads there is always someone available to help out.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We receive a lot of support working towards our qualifications because there is loads of people who have done something similar and if we are ever stuck, then these people can tend to help when and where possible.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Doing the qualification helps me perform better because I'm learning new stuff about the job each and every day that provides me with the information and knowledge to achieve the best possible result.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Im not entirely sure on this but I would imagine I would be able to find out if i wanted to participate in.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because it is a very good and well structured organisation to work for. This isn't just a place where you will have a job, its a career based opportunity to progress up the ladder and in different roles.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT Group?
  • Just be yourself and present yourself to the company as best as you can. Dont pressure yourself into over achieving as you could make mistakes along the way.
