I currently assist the highways team primarily based in the Newcastle office. My day to day tasks consists of mark ups on CAD, drawing set ups and a small bit of document control on larger projects. I work mostly on AutoCAD however I am expanding my skills and intend to work more on Civil3D in the next year.
Since working at Arup I have developed my existing AutoCAD skills, my communication skills and enhanced my problem solving abilities.
Arup is a great place to work however my experience with Leeds Beckett University hasn't exactly been positive. I understand that covid-19 has disrupted a few things however the way the University have managed the course is not acceptable. However, with this in mind Arup have contacted the university on my behalf and complained.
The programme is structured well however there is a clear lack of communication from the universities point. In result this has left me a bit unclear about the direction of the course.
I receive a fair bit of support in the form of 3 study leave days a year and they allow me 1 day a week to attend my university course. My team are very helpful if i need to ask them any engineering theory questions.
zero
I am yet to see any correlation / learn anything new that may help me during my day to day workload
Arup are amazing for this and there is always something to get involved with.
