  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work on any digital projects within the company and help out wherever I can. I create marketing for any equipment or digital related launches. I manage and create video content for the YouTube channel which includes video tutorials for any new equipment or peripherals sent out as well as creating user guides for employees with the new equipment.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • As part of my role I have to use all sorts of softwares to create video content, user guides, posters, email campaigns and many other virtual things. I learnt a lot within the first 6 months f my role, I am comfortable with all the softwares such as Adobe Photoshop and Premier Pro, there's so much more yet to learn!

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Each role within the L'Oréal apprenticeship scheme is unique. The role you go for is very specific and therefore when you choose it you know what you are signing up for and which one you would enjoy the most. This role I enjoy a lot, I knew from the get go it included skills I wanted to develop, I have been able to do so massively in a short space of time.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There is a 4 day working week with one day of University at the end of the week. The course is well structured as you have the Friday for learning time and the weekend for study time. Work hardly ever overruns and it is easy to sign off mentally on a Thursday afternoon.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The majority of the time you spend during a degree apprenticeship is with your employer at work. The L'Oréal staff are extremely friendly and understanding of the fact you are studying on top of maintaining a job role. They offer you study time off and guidance when needed

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Because we only get one day of study, the providers provide so much support to help us be able to maintain and attain a full bachelor's degree whilst working full time also. The student services team are easy to get ahold of and the disability needs are super resourceful and helpful too.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Our provider ensures that what we study links to our role, we are constantly having to link both and our assignments ask for links between our role and our business to the question at hand. We gain a lot of knowledge from both to help us on either end. I definitely feel like I know my role better as a result of my qualification.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are lots of opportunities to network and gain understanding on different topics. Through the pandemic, extra-curricular activities have become a rarity however, L'Oréal have been particularly good at making sure that we have lots of virtual social events such as quizzes, awareness campaigns and loads of other stuff to keep socialising levels up.

  • 9a. Would you recommend L'Oreal to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The company is super friendly and diverse. There is a mix of people, backgrounds, genders, sexualities and just an inclusive working environment. Everyone gets along and the workers are actually mostly quite young. You gain so much experience in such a short amount of time as the company is not afraid to throw you straight in and get you working and learning, whilst helping you out whenever needed. There is a good balance of autonomy and support.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to L'Oreal?
  • Definitely be confident in the interviews and prepare! Know about the company and future plans and incorporate those facts in your interview, it's super impressive. Ask questions about the working life and the people and show you have awareness of professionalism but with a good balance of enjoying yourself!
