I clean, calibrate and maintain a range of medical electronic devicese.g ECGs, blood pressure monitors, and infusion pumps). I perform functional, electrical safety and performance tests on a range of medical electronic devices (via safety analysers and patient simulators). I also assists with asset management & stock control systems.
I've learned how to use a range of electronic medical devices. I've also had to opportunity to develop my customer service, communication, data entry and technical skills.
I enjoy the programme very much and the training courses are very interesting.
I feel very well valued in King's College Hospital. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming.
The programme is very well structured and organised. Unlike other apprenticeships where you're only restricted to one area, this apprenticeship allows you to work around 4 of the following Clinical/Technical areas: Medical Engineering/Clinical Engineering, Renal Technology, Operating Theatres, Emergency Department, Respiratory Medicine, Nuclear Medicine/Radiation Protection, Maternity Ward, and Critical Care.
I receive a lot of support from my training provider.
I receive a lot of support from my employer and line manager. Every week I get the opportunity to talk with my line manager to discuss how things are going.
The salary is good for an apprenticeship.
There are a many opportunities because the programme allows you to volunteer in schools, career fairs and other events. The apprenticeship also allows you to undertake accredited training courses on medical devices.
