I am a Business Support apprentice and I help with the overall support for employees at BAE systems. This could be form making sure they have masks, to doing their post or even helping out with some of their work. I also make sure that everyone's COVID test are up to date.
One skills that I have developed is the use of excel. I have completed numerous training pack for excel to widen my knowledge on different tables and spreadsheets. This is to enable me to create more efficient documents for my team. One new skill I have learnt is how to frank any post.
I enjoy my programme for different reasons. The team I work with are very friendly and supportive which has allowed to me to settle in nicely. The work load that I received within the first few months of my time was very good and it enabled me to also settle in nicely.
I think that my programme is very well structed from the introduction to the way it is currently running. There is a lot of support if I needed it and we can also go through what tasks I have done and look at the positives and negatives, which helps improve myself.
I also receive very good support form my line manger. This is when it comes to any tasks I might have or just any general questions I may want to ask. Also, my team members have helped me to show me different daily tasks that come up and I have taken some of them on.
I receive a good amount of support from my skills coach on the tasks book I complete and any assignments I complete. They give in detail feedback to make sure I know what I need to improve on and to praise me if I done something good. This allows me to improve as a person.
The things that I learnt in my qualification has helped me through my time in my role because it has taught me different communication skills, how to be professional in the work place and how to make sure I have a plan to develop myself in the future. I also use reflective practices to reflect on the tasks I do.
There are extra activities I can get involved in however, due to COVID these have been put on hold and some wont come back for a while. When this comes back to life I will look to see what exactly I can get involved with and think about what I should join.
Yes
The main reason I would recommend BAE to a friend would be because of the people there. They are all friendly and helpful and that is a massive positive to this company. The next reason would be that the facilities are really good which will help to develop their skills.
One tip I would give about the applying process to to make sure your on the ball to look at any notifications because their is a lot to go through and documents to sign etc. Also, research about the company and what they do in the section you are going into to have an advantages over other people.
