  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • My communication skills have improved dramatically. Before joining the course, I found speaking in front of large groups incredibly difficult and would often stumble over my words. Now, I feel much more comfortable speaking in front of crowds.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I've really enjoyed the programme so far. There's no doubt I've had to work hard and put a lot of effort into the course but it's been more than worth it so far.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Some topics I learn in my degree course are incredibly relevant to my job, some aren't. But I think it's incredibly important to have that contextual knowledge about banks and businesses when starting your career so I think everything has been really useful so far.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I do like to get involved wherever I can. This has led me to support things like mental health teams and exercise challenges.

  • 9a. Would you recommend HSBC to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • My friends are 19-20 years old and a lot of them don't know what to do as a career. I'd recommend HSBC due to the sheer scale of the bank and the variety of roles they could find as well as the friendly and inclusive culture.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to HSBC?
  • It's important to know the values and implement and reflect on them during interactions. Also, for a new-to-bank young adult, emphasis is placed on potential for development so it's okay not to know everything straight away.
