I work within the fibre to the premises department. My duties include putting up new fibre drop wires to houses and installing new fibre broadband for our customers. I also do fault finding. Working out where there is an issue and doing my best to resolve this on the day.
I had a six week training period down in Exeter where I learnt all the basic skills I needed to go in the field. I then done some buddying with an existing engineer in order to gain more experience and learn new and better processes to benefit and make customers happy
I really enjoy my job. Never felt like I haven’t wanted to get up and go to work. I generally put in for overtime and I enjoy being at work. The programme is good as it allows you to learn a more wider variety of things along with keeping us safe
I believe it is well organised and structured as new as it could have been during covid. I mean I had a bit of delay in starting the workshops on the apprenticeship but that was due to covid but all in all they handled the whole pandemic really well and efficiently
We get support from out patch leads and managers by allowing us to take days to work on our profolios for our apprenticeship and this benefits me as then I really get time to do my best. My employer also supports us as they push us to constantly learn new things and take on new challenges which I like
I haven’t really had any problems yet but my training provider had given me all the information required to be able to do well in my apprenticeship and has always made it clear he is there to answer any questions r help out where required. I also like there’s not too long between workshops so we can still remember
I believe the qualification will help as it’s not just specific to my job role it has information around other roles too in which would in the future enable us to move around the business if we would like to providing us with more opportunities to better and further ourselves
I know there are a lot of volunteering you can take up in which would look good on your job profile. This is also paid for whilst volunteering which I believe is a great thing to give back to the community. Us as a team also do charity runs etc
Yes
Because it’s a good place to work. Excellent training and they provide you with everything you need to do a good job. All the tools and equipment. They also give you freedom to plan your own day which I think is a good thing as it makes it feel like your own business
Apply and you’ll have a job for life. They really look after you with all the benefits and pensions plus they also provide you with a qualification that can in the future help towards climbing up the ladder within the business. There are a lot of other routes of employment too
