As part of my job, I submit numerous reports to show stock levels and and spend across the hospital. I also help to create dashboards to show spend which can be divided across the trust into divisions. Lately, I have been monitoring the hospitals PPE stocks to attain certain levels of stock.
Most of my skills have been newly developed as I had little knowledge previously of data analytics. I have learnt how to use Power BI, R programming and SQL, which I can now use to show or demonstrate data in new ways in comparison to how the data is shown now.
I really enjoy my course of study because I enjoy working with the people in my department as they are very helpful and enjoyable to work with. I am able to help out within the various sections of the department to present data in new and more effective ways to help others who may not know the data very well or not work with it on a daily basis.
The programme is structured well from my point of view. I am able to attend college once a week and can also take study leave or just work on my work in my time at work. I am also allowed to take extra training sessions to further my knowledge of topics I have learnt at college as well as to further my knowledge of the department as a whole.
I receive a lot of help from my employer. They allow me a lot of flexibility with my course in terms of study leave and completing my college work when I am done with my normal work during the day. They are also in communication with the relevant sources to keep us all up to date on progress.
My training provider has been quite poor in helping me with my training. I did not receive any work for 5 months during the pandemic and no one has faced any consequences for this. I always complete my work independently and receive little help and I am still expected to finish on time.
I believe that my qualification will benefit the department as I will be able to put forward new ideas for how data can be presented. I now know new ways to present data to benefit all those who are looking at it as they may not have the same experience with the data that I would working on it on a daily basis.
I believe that there are numerous extra curricular activities to take part in such as Zumba or ballet classes. There are also many way to get involved in the day to day running of the hospital with various teams calls to be able to ask questions on various topics with nurses or the director of the hospital.
Yes
I have really enjoyed working here as it is a good working environment with people who I really enjoy working with. I also enjoy doing the work that I am provided with as a lot of it that I can work with and expand on further with the new knowledge that I now have as part of my course.
Look at the job specification carefully and see what will be expected of you in your perspective job role. Do research on the work that you will be doing and see how you can relate this to work you have already done with examples. Do research on the department you will be working on to see look at what you will be working on and how interesting that will be to you.
