My role included providing day to day business admin support to teams within defence, equipment and support. I help deal with emails and meetings daily and additional tasks which include the use of different Microsoft packages such as word and excel. My work helps keep people on top of things.
I have developed many skills during this apprenticeship. The main one being presenting skills. This has massively improved my confidence. Also my IT skills and use of communication has improved massively since I’ve had to use communication more within my team especially as it is within a virtual environment.
I have enjoyed my time during this apprenticeship. The placements that I have been part of to complete this apprenticeship have allowed me to experience different things and get to know different people. This also includes getting to know others that are completing the same apprenticeship as I am doing.
I think that the programme was quite well structured. Clear goals were laid out with specific time lines at the beginning. For example apprenticeship work was completed and handed in monthly and then marked to ensure we would all be ready in time to hand in and sit the exam.
I personally think that the employer for my apprenticeship was very supportive whilst I was going through the apprenticeship. This was done through different methods, we had regular reminders for deadlines, check ins, development goals set and also just availability if we ever needed her for any last minute support.
I did receive support from my training provider which was good however, my whole cohort was placed with the same training provider which meant that she was limited on time. Sometimes if I needed last minute help she wouldn’t always be avaliable straight away as she was helping others.
I do feel that the work we did as part of our qualification did help me to perform in my role as they were very closely associated. Sometimes the work didn’t suit my role at the time however I thought it would be beneficial to me in the future.
There are plenty of social activities that happen within my work. Lots of them are team based and used as a team bonding experience. Some of the simple networking events include things such as virtual quizzes which helps to get people involved, however due to working from home it’s been slightly more difficult to meet in person.

There is so much room to improve within the business and so many different areas to experience. I think there is something for everyone and something that everyone will enjoy as there is so many different things out there at such different levels! The opportunities to succeed within the organisation are great.
Be confident in yourself and make sure you present all of your talent and skills. Make sure you’re ambitious and motivated to do well because that’s how you can certain things such as promotions. Work closely with your team as they’re a really valuable part of your journey.
