My role as an apprentice is too come to work every day and learn something new that will allow me to broaden my knowlege skills. My job role consists of completing mantenance and preventative maintenance jobs on variuos types of machinary around the plant. I work in different placements around BMW and try and learn new skills in each placement.
I have definitely learned new skills so far in my apprenticeship consisting of using various techniques to complete jobs. I have developed my knowlege of how to use various types of tools and equipment as i had basic skills prior. I try to learn different skills every day to broaden my knowlege.
I enjoy my programme a lot as i think it is a brilliant opportunity to get a good qualification at the end of my apprenticeship and also learn a vast range of skills around the workplace in the process. I believe that this apprenticeship will benefit me massively in the future.
I think that this apprenticeship is well organised and structured as i complete 3 month placements around the plant which allows me to work in all of the different areas inside BMW Hams Hall. This is very well managed and allows me to work with a lot of different people. I also attend college which is well organised and allows me to get my grades and qualifiactions.
I revice a lot of support from my employer as he is always there to help or assist me with any problems that i may have around the business or personal problems. My employer is very easy to get hold of if i have any issues and he will always try and if i have any problems, he will try his hardest to help me with them.
I revieve a good amount of support from my training provider as if i have any problems with any work or lessons at college, i can contact my training provider and he will help me. For example, if there was a lesson that a lecturer was not teaching well, i could let my training provider know and he would contact the college and sort out the situation.
The qualification definitely helps me perform better in my role as the first year at college allows us to work wth various types of machinary such as Lathes and Milling machines, and also different types of tools such as hacksaws and allen keys. These basic skills have allowed me to work better in my job role.
There is an annual Hams Hall football match that takes place. This involves people from assembly making a football team and people from machining making a team. These teams will then have a football match every year which allows the workers to let off some steam and have some fun outside of work hours.
Yes
I would reccomend this apprenticeship to a frend as i think it will open up a lot of doors in the future and will give you a very good qualification at the end of it. The apprenticeship allows you to gain a vast amount of skills and knowlege.
I would tell them to ensure they are ready to work hard if they want to apply for this apprenticeship as it is not easy and you will not be able to complete it if you are not aiming to perform to the best of your ability at all times. Make sure you are confident to try new things and learn new skills.
