My role as a technical engineer currently works that we do 3 weeks on patch out with our mentor who gives us one to one training then we do 3 weeks in the learning centre in Hamilton,
I have learned new skills with the course I feel like when I think about it there was many things that prior to the apprenticeship I did not know and now some of these things are like second nature to me now.
Sometimes I feel like I can be stressed out by the demanding work load and pressure to pass. I feel as if I don't pass my ACS then that is it for me. Other than that I genuinely enjoy my job and love the fact I learn new skills every day.
The programme at the start I would say was difficult due to COVID because so we was doing stuff in different order however I can understand where they are coming from because they made the best out of a bad situation.
The staff are great though and do not cut corners and show the the proper way of doing things and it is something I am taking on and getting better with.
I feel I receive support but it has often been described as a self led course so feel like its all down to me. I want to pass badly but there's a lot of information and things to learn.
British Gas has been good and I am happy with what they have done so far. I have learned to become adaptable to the training methods of the staff.
Not had any social activities at all
Yes
I believe it is a good job and it is a career for life however it is probably the most demanding job mentally I have ever had with a massive work load. I am going to stick it out because I want to pass. I would also say it is a job I am actually proud to work for, everyone has heard of British Gas and its a well respected role and trade.
Be prepared for the work load, Just get things done.
