The role is split into 2 sections. One is a more administrative role in which I am involved in the budgeting and payment processes for various team. However the more interesting side of the role revolves around working within the marketing team and a smaller team within this called brand experience.
During the apprenticeship you are pushed into lots of new situations and on a regular basis. This is great because you will be forced to learn new skills due to being put in new situations which you will have to adapt to. This combined with working across various teams in the higher apprenticeships.
I have enjoyed my time at Unilever so far. I have been given lots of opportunities for personal development as well as meeting lots of new people despite joining during a pandemic. A huge advantage to working for Unilever is they really prioritise employee wellbeing which is something I admire and has only lead me to enjoy my placement more.
The programme is well organised and structured from all 3 components of the apprenticeship. Whitehat will be the training provider who will give regular assignments more theory based surrounding the world of business. While you will pick up the practical side of things in your day to day role at Unilever. Manpower handle anything contractual.
Lots of support. Unilever are very invested in the apprentices from what I have seen and want to see you become a high achiever. My team are also very good at setting my time aside to complete coursework set by Whitehat this is key as some of the work set can be rather demanding.
The training provider (Whitehat) Is very supportive at helping with set work. You will have regular check ins with you coach and you are synced up to a pretty decent network of other apprentices should you require there assistance. They also offer a mentor programme where a previous apprentice can help you with any challenges you are facing.
The topics covered are often interesting. However I feel some are more relevant than others. With the work being more theory based you often cover very broad topics and it is not so easy to relate to specific roles the assignments get you to link back to your work but they often don't cover your specific role.
As I have joined during a pandemic I am sure I have not been able to take full advantage of what would usually be on offer. Therefore my score may be an unfair representation. Unilever have been good at organising team virtual events we have done things ranging from an online escape room to ginger bread house making. I would like to see more sport however I am sure this would be available in normal circumstances
Yes
It seems to be a company which has the employee at the heart of their interests. It takes well being seriously does not just talk about it but actually implements actions such as well being Wednesday where we are offered an extended lunch and encourages to use this time to do something mindfully beneficial. Also have a great stance on sustainability.
I would recommend to learn about the culture of Unilever try to contact current employees and understand if this is something you can relate to and that you share in Unilever's values as I feel the company definitely has a sense of meaning and it is important you align yourself with that.
