Within my role I co-ordinate marketing campaigns and collate data from the results and learnings. On a day to day basis I meet with brand teams to plan and assist their digital marketing campaigns. I also help to organise and run capability sessions for marketing employees with a senior team member.
One skill which has improved is my confidence since joining Unilever as I run monthly capability sessions where I present to an audience of around 100 employees. Another skill I have improved on is my decision making as I am requite to make independent recommendations for brands on the best approach for campaigns.
So far I have enjoyed my experience within Unilever and working alongside my main team. I have a small team who are always available to assist when I need them and encourage me to develop my skills. I enjoy my day to day role and the University course one day a week.
My programme is organised well with 1 day of study and 4 days of working. I have the time organised to complete my university work and Unilever work, allowing me to manage my time effectively. I am kept up to date on developments by the future leaders team and the university lecturers.
I have weekly catch ups with each of my team members to help with any problems or be given new projects to work on. I am supported by my employer within these catch up sessions and am also able to reach out to my line manager whenever I am faced with any issues.
I have a catch up with my course coordinator at university each semester to ensure I am on track within my course. I am also able to email the lecturers if I face any issues throughout the module. They provide feedback to help me on areas I have struggled within.
I learn transferrable skills within my university course which I am able to use within my day to day role. Most of my modules have been linked to work I carry out daily allowing me to put these skills into action. This is because my degree is digital marketing, the same as my job role.
There have been social activities put on during celebratory times of the year such as Christmas and Easter where teams get together to take part in challenges virtually. There are also quizes hosted by other apprentices on a regular basis to allow us to meet other team members as it is more difficult online.

Unilever have been a fantastic employer throughout the recruitment process, onboarding and setting my employment up throughout the first 9 months of my apprenticeship. If I have ever had any issues I am able to easily reach out to someone to help find a solution. They also offer great benefits and other employees are great to work alongside.
I would advice applicants to research into the company and the position they are applying for to prepare them for the interview process. I would also suggest training on interview skills to prepare for the application process. Also, to be confident within the interview to show interviewers that you'd be a good candidate for the role.
