I am a software engineer, I am currently implementing changes to a current system which enables business' to report their accounting information in a more defined way.
Yes I have learnt many new skills and technologies including: PL/SQL, SQL, Java, XML, XBRL, Unix and more.
I enjoy my programme greatly, I am able to learn new skills frequently and also gain my degree whilst having job experience
I feel valued because I am given high responsibility for tasks that usually require a more experienced person
My programme is very well structured. I have my QA reviewer come to visit every 6 weeks where he will assign me new tasks to complete. The degree will then start next year
I recieve a great deal of support especially when i have a question, i just email my reviewer and he is quick to reply.
My employer is very supportive as i am always encouraged to attend training courses and have been given frameworks to show me my progress that is expected over the 5 year programme.
My salary is very good considering my age however can sometimes not be enough for my costs. I think that the older higher apprentices should have a higher package due to the likelihood of more outgoings each month.
Yes we regularly have outside events where people from work will participate such as football
Yes
I have already recommended Capgemini to a friend who has now started work for us. It is a brilliant scheme for young people to get on to without the need to go to university.
Maintain a professional attitude throughout your career and it will always pay off
