I am a HR advisor supporting the Pearson Professional Centre network (test centres) across 3 regions. I support the managers on all things people-related and work closely with managers and stakeholders across the business. I support regions 1, 2 and 10, which covers a lot of the UK and some countries in the EMEA regional such as Spain, Germany, France, Turkey, Israel, South Africa and more.
My knowledge of HR as a department has grown and I have learned a lot regarding employment law, best practice, disciplinary process, grievance, absence management, welfare, engagement, wellbeing and more. I have been exposed to so many different areas that I don't believe I would have been if I hadn't been employed by Pearson VUE.
I have enjoyed all of my time working art Pearson VUE and believe a lot of that has to do with the team that I work with. Although I have been working remotely since day one and haven't actually spent a day in the office yet, I feel completely supported.
My programme has been relatively structured throughout in terms of my apprenticeship. My practical side (my job role) has been incredibly structured. I have come to find a nice balance between the two now and tried a few different methods to find that structure and I have found taking the full day for my studies works best.
As I have said previously, my immediate team have been incredibly supportive. I have been working remotely since day 1 at Pearson VUE and do not feel any less supported than if I had been working from the office. My team are readily approachable and always there if I need to raise questions.
My tutor can be quite slow to respond to emails and tends to forget things quite a lot, meaning that I need to request certain information multiple times before I receive it. But overall it has gotten much better recently and currently I don't have any issues with the support.
The knowledge units that I have been working on have helped towards the practical implementation. Not only have these units helped me when applying them into my job role but even writing the assignments has helped further my communication skills. I have enjoyed going through the knowledge unites on my course.
I have recently joined the apprenticeship newletter editorial team (TAB) and have enjoyed writing my first piece for them and reviewing the final product. I have attended many workshops that have been put on by the company covering topics such as diversity and equality, fireside chats and hard hitting conversations.
Yes
I have enjoyed working with the managers that I work with and have enjoyed working closely with my immediate team. I have learned a lot during my time working for Pearson VUE and my confidence in the knowledge that I have has grown substantially. I am happy in my current role.
I would encourage anybody to apply for a role that they like the look of with Pearson VUE. As I work in VUE specifically I can only really talk about them but I would definitely recommend anybody to apply for a job here. I have enjoyed my experience working in my current role.
