My role involves organising implementation training events for centres who are wishing to start teaching BTEC qualifications. This requires liaising with regional development managers and trainers to coordinate a training event that works with the centre and their international time zone and also our trainers. Skills used daily are communication and organisation.
Throughout my apprenticeship, I have built on a variety of skills, including time management, leadership, communication, prioritisation, organisation, and many more. These continue to be developed daily through work opportunities but also through completing my degree and certain work based learning modules such as self managed learning modules which are really valuable to apprentices.
I thoroughly enjoyed my programme as it has provided me with a wide range of opportunities and allowed me to grow as an individual both professionally and personally. Not only has it provided me with opportunities it has allowed me to develop skills and land a new job at the end of my apprenticeship.
I was on an International Rotational Degree Apprenticeship. I do not feel that my international rotations were as well organised as they could have been and only 1 was permitted out of the three due to coronavirus. However, the rest of my scheme was organised and structured very well in my opinion.
I received a lot of support from my employer, in forms of weekly catch ups with my manager, being assigned a team mentor and a senior mentor in addition the university mentor you are assigned. All this support gave me various people and opportunities to talk to someone if I was ever stressed or needed help dealing with an issue.
I received an apprentice mentor at the start of my programme as a person of contact which was helpful for specific university issues that I experienced. In addition to an extremely helpful student services team and team of academic tutors who were always willing to help with issues students had if they could.
It has allowed me to be in a position of leadership and coordinate essentials research projects that have helped to better improve the team and help meet strategic aims. Furthermore, being in a position of leadership has allowed apprentices to develop key employability skills which will be transferable to any job role in the future.
As an apprentice I was extremely busy with work and studying so I did not take part in any extra curricular activities that were offered at work. I am also not aware of any extra curricular activities that may be offered. I also did not take part in any societies and extra curricular activities offered my degree provider.
Yes
Pearson are very supportive and encouraging and provide a vast range of professional development opportunities. Since progressing from Pearson College London to Pearson, I have been provided with an increased responsibility and opportunities to develop and lead projects. I am also really well supported by my manager which creates a good work environment.
I would recommend them to talk about all the opportunities they have had and how they've used employability skills that are transferable to the work place environment to achieve the opportunities. Furthermore, I would say that applicants should try and use a variety of examples when answering questions and to be themselves to show the organisation what value they will bring.
