My role is to learn how to become a gas technical engineer. Some weeks I am at the training academy to learn all about the gas industry. Some weeks I am out on patch with an engineer following his footsteps servicing boilers and fixing any issues the customer has. D
I have learnt a lot in my time so far in the apprenticeship. Like soldering copper pipe. Re wiring various systems. Diagnosing problems with wiring systems. Diagnosing faults with boilers. I have learnt how to service all sorts of boilers like back boilers and combi boilers
I enjoy my time at the academy and on patch I feel welcome and involved. The environment I work in feels very safe, I enjoy being hands on when out with my mentor and getting involved.
The Programme is structured well and there is a clear plan to follow although some things have been different due to covid.
There is plenty of support around British gas there is always people to speak to when needed.
There is plenty of work books and revision for all exams. We practice all practical work in the training Centre before any practical assessments
I feel that it is key to have the qualifications so I can work safe and be assured I’m doing everything correct
Unfortunately not
Yes
It is an excellent apprenticeship Programme with great mentor support.
If applying for British gas it’s helpful if you have a level 2 English and maths but not essential. Also the same with a drivers license
