On a day to day basis I will learn about what I will be doing in the practical aspect of my job and how I will do it alongside any health and safety or other regs I need to follow, this is only on the first three days of the week, on the final two days I will practice my practical skills in the workshop and carry out 7 assessments and a fault report booklet.
Yes, whilst at the college I have developed many new skills and built on ones I already had such as team working and strategic vision. Every Wednesday I attended a call to further build all of my skills and behaviours like courage, collaboration with my senior members of staff. I
Whilst in the college and the short amount of time I have spent on site I have enjoyed meeting new people and getting to better understand my role in the business. I have picked up new skills, made new friends from my colleagues and am more knowledgeable about my job/role.
My programme is is well structured consisting of 2 theory day a skills and behaviours days in the middle of the week and then two practical days coming in at the end of the week. Despite sometimes having a tutor off in some of our lessons the programme as a whole is well put together.
I receive all the support that I require from my tutors, line manager and peers and any other member of staff, my tutors and peers are helpful in the workshop and in class asking for help if required and helping myself out when I am struggling with something the same can be said for my line manager if I have any problems then i can go straight to them.
Regarding my qualifications my training provider helps me whenever I need it wether this be in the workshop or in lessons, if I am asked to go and research they will help with the sources of information, and if I am stuck in the workshop they will help me with that as well.
If I did not have the required knowledge from my training provider then I would not be able to preform my role at all as it requires the knowledge and skill only to be picked up from a tutor or trained person. Without this I would not be where I am at the moment.
There are a few social events that I know of which take place in the town centre where our company tries to take on new young people to make them go for an apprenticeship showing them the benefits of working at BAE systems and also the benefits of having the qualifications of an apprenticeship.
Yes
BAE systems has been a great company to work for because of the amount of options and support you can get whilst working there such as you career path, you can decide as an electrician to go down the inspection and testing side of things and the training is top of the class.
Some of the tips I would give others would be to be prepared instead of winging it on the interview as I was asked questions I was not prepared for. Another tip would be to take notes if you get in as there is a lot of information you will need for your tests.
