I complete lessons in college to further my knowledge and complete assignments to gain the qualifications I need to enter the business. We also work towards completing a higher national certificate in engineering and manufacturing through the use of computer aided design software as well as hand drawings to complete assignments
I have learned how to work in a team through my apprenticeship so far by working through presentations and group work, I have also learned how to use CAD software which is a vital part of the role. I have also learned about business regulations and their importance in the business
I am enjoying my programme as I am able to meet new people who all have interests in the same areas as I do, I have also enjoyed gaining new experiences and knowledge on aspects of the job which I was unaware of before, I have also enjoyed using cad software.
The programme is well structured in that we have lots of support from BAE staff as well as the staff at college and are able to give our ideas and they are taken into account. We are also told of any requirements in good time and any problems are always considered
I receive lots of support as we have weekly sessions which educate us on the business and the traits and requirements which allow us to thrive in the business full time. We are also able to contact people in the business who are able to give advice and feedback for us
We receive lots of support from our training provider as we are in college most days of the week and the tutors are always available to help in both educational regards and personal as we have a personal progress councilor who looks after our personal wellbeing and we can go to them for support
I feel that the qualification allows us to better perform our role as it gives us information on how to perform the daily tasks we will be completed such as health and safety and the use of computer aided design software which we will use almost daily in the business
There are Extra curricular activities available in college such as sports as well as non physical activities such as chess or film and it is very easy to organise an extra curricular activity with other people in the course as we can both talk and message through social media sites
Yes
I would recommend BAE systems to a friend as they are a large benefactor to our local community and are an extremely progressive workforce which requires a variety of skills so most people will be employable and their apprenticeship schemes allow for sufficient training to get a job within the business
I would advise others to do lots of research so they know what they are doing and how their skills are applyable to the job and how they can apply their previous experiences into working in a new environment and how to best fulfill their new job role when they get into the business
