My job role is a design apprentice. I am currently studying at Furness College for a EAL L3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering. This is too set me up for when I start my job in BAE, so I have the skills I need.
Yes I have learnt lots of new skills, as I have new courses that I study at Furness College. I had a basic understanding of CAD but know I am confident in developing my own drawings on the computer.
I enjoy my apprenticeship and I am very excited to start actual work, instead of being at Furness College. It has been difficult because of covid and lockdowns, however over all I have really enjoyed my time at Furness College.
At Furness College the programme has good structure, however [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] sometimes the college do not prepare suitable cover for lessons, this might be due to short notice though.
We receive excellent support from our employers. They have 12 weekly reviews too check on us and make sure that we are on track. They also support us a lot with any questions and queries we have.
BAE systems have been actively involved by making sure that we are update to do and receiving any support we need too complete the college course. As well Furness College have been excellent with support through lockdown.
I believe that is it a good qualification for my role. It gives my so many skills such as communications, CAD skills and many more. As a collective we gain every skill that we need to make sure we can confidently do our role too a good standard.
Yes we are required to complete 3 extra curricular activities. We are required to complete an outward bound week away. Then we have free reign to do what ever we want. For example I am going to my extra curriculars on STEM activities.
Yes
I believe that BAE is the best apprenticeship provider in my area. They provide a first class service with so many opportunities too succeed. BAE is recognised as they provide top class service and everyone who comes out of there apprenticeship scheme is well trained and disciplined.
Too make yourself stand out from the crowd in the field that you are interested in. I was interested in Design so throughout school I got involved with STEM activity’s. This meant in my application I could say I had experience, I could prove that I was interested and I had so many good examples.
