I have been placed on the Hull discipline. Depending on what team they work in the hull discipline would work on the design of the body of the submarine, they would mature the items as they have to make sure everything has to be of a certain level, ECR’s would be a part of their daily jobs as this is an engineering change request so they would have to act upon these when given them to make sure everything is still being built correctly. They do outputs to support the build program and design their items they are in charge of on the specific teams as well as changing items already designed. As well as that they would be answering queries from people on their team and from other teams.
I have developed my team working skill as I have had to work with new people in a team and do presentations and figure out problems with them. I have also developed my confidence as I have had to do a presentation which I was not very confident with to begin with.
I am enjoying the programme so far and I am sure when I go into the business I will enjoy it more as I’ll be doing work to do with my job role
I think the programme is structured well as we develop skills in the first year at college to ready ourselves for entering the business
We receive weekly support on canvas calls as this is direct contact with the business and also if we ever needed anything we could give an email and they would give us support via email whilst we are in college.
Furness college has been a good training provider as the tutors are a good help and are always there when you need any help.
I believe the CAD course we are doing in college will help us towards our role the most as this is similar to what we will be using in the business and the other courses help us with extra information
Resilience training Outward bound Apprentice council STEM activities
Yes
I believe it is a good company to work for and there is always work available as they are a provider for the uk with submarines
Make sure to do research so you know about BAE and what they do and also research each job role and apply for the one you think would suit you the most
