My role involves designing parts for submarines which will then be manufactured by other engineers.
I have massively developed my Computer Aided Design course throughout the first year of this course.
I have quite enjoyed the first year of this apprenticeship, however the lockdown did make it difficult for a period of time, but I have enjoyed it whilst being in college and look forward to going into the business.
[This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] there has been a lot of confusion about different things throughout this first year and it has also been difficult to get in contact with people to ask questions about the programme.
I think my employers offer good support as they offer mental health programmes to support all employees. However getting in contact with my employers when I have questions is quite difficult.
My tutors in college have been very helpful in helping me work towards gaining my qualification in this first year and I am happy with the amount of support they have given me.
I think the Computer Aided Design aspect of the qualification will definitely help me perform better in my role, as well as maths and mechanical principles, however some of the other subjects don’t seem as relevant to my role in the business.
There are usually extra-curricular activities available to employees but unfortunately this year, due to Covid, these activities have not been available to us.
Yes
BAE Systems is an excellent business which provides you with all the training you need for your job and also pays for you to gain qualifications that will help you with your role in the business.
I would advise people to do plenty of research on the role they apply for so that they will not be surprised by what their role in the business entails when they do enter the business.
