On a day to day basis I test confined spaces to ale sure they are are safe. I also put ventilation in tanks and put sucker pipes on too. I check the flow of the pipes to make sure there pulling above 10. Tidy the work place in a regular basis.
I have learnt a lot of new skills within this job role and have an understanding of what is expected. I’ve learnt how dangerous gasses can be and what I have to do to make sure the confines spaces are safe for people to go in. I’ve also learnt how to fit ventilation and sucker pipes.
I really enjoy my programme more than I’m what I thought I would with it being very new to me. I’m enjoying learning the job and what is needed of me to do my job. It’s very interesting and everyday can be different so it doesn’t get repetitive.
My program is structured well and I know what I have to when and where. Always kept updated on stuff you need to know and if I’m unsure of out I know who I need to contact to find this information from. The structure of it works very well.
You can get all the support you want in this business. There is so many contacts who you can reach out to if you need help with anything. I can go to my team leader, manager and coach skills and also a team that you can phone and get straight through.
When I was in college working toward my exams they were very helpfully, if I was struggling I only needed to ask for help. They want you to pass as much as yourself so they support you a lot. They have plenty of time for you and help until you understand it is your struggling with.
It does help as it gives you the knowledge you need to know on what is expected in the yard. It also gives you a better understanding on engineering overall. I didn’t know a thing about my role and then while i was a called I understood a lot more.
On side the business the workers organise sport events between themselves, they also have events at the local forum if you want to know more about the business. Other than that I’m in aware of they have others events on, they could do but I don’t know otherwise.
Yes
It’s the best place to work for, it’s really important job that we do. It’s so interesting what happens and goes on in this business. It’s more than I expected and wouldn’t want to work anywhere else. Very supportive business and are looked after. Makes me feel Pride working for Bae systems.
I would say put as much effort in as possible to get the grades needed to work in here. It’s the best job around and you have a job for life. If you don’t get in first time make sure you apply as many times as you need to as it shows your keen to work for them. Never give up.
