My current role is a React.js developer. I work on frontend UI for a web portal. My day to day work schedule involves meeting with colleagues during standup and giving updates on my work tasks. I also liaise with testers with regards to the components that I have built.
I have learnt many skills. My soft skills and social skills have improved a lot. This is due to my experience working with colleagues remotely and in the office. With regards to my technical skills i have learnt react.js, as well as learning how to use many custom softwares (Jira etc)
I enjoy the programme very much. It has been demanding at times but I have learnt so many things, as well as being able to network with brilliant professionals from many countries. The salary is good for me personally. The programme has helped me to be an excellent and more mature professional.
The programme is organized. There are liaisons that are set up from the beginning. For example there are buddy's and counsellors that are assigned to you. They provide support and advice all throughout the programme. In addition, at university there are module leaders that provide academic support as well
There is a lot of support that the employer has given me as an apprentice and as an general employee. There are many opportunities to discuss questions and worries with other colleagues. There are always workshops that address a wide range of topics, from work life balance to technical skills to leisure activities
The university provided adequate support during my degree course. Module leaders are regularly available bro respond to questions and queries about modules/assessments. During the lockdown, changes had to be made and there were some issues with communication, but before hand it was quite simple to reach out to lecturers
I think that there are some aspects of my qualification that has helped me professionally. For example, during my degree i learnt about project management. This helped me to understand better the ins and outs of a project as well as the aims and objectives necessary in order for a project to be successful
There are many events that you can participate in. There are many opportunities to network with others, as well as workshops that are organized internally and externally. These events are great opportunities to meet others. There are wine tasting clubs, language groups and even sports teams that you can join
Yes
In Accenture there are many opportunities with regards to entering the Tech industry. Specifically with the apprenticeship course, there is a chance to try out various roles and pick up different skills as you discover what you like and don't like. This is vital as you have a work flexibility that not a lot of of companies offer
Research specific topics or areas of technology that you are interested in or want to learn more about. This will be useful for the interview and will demonstrate that you have a passion for technology. If you are still in school, continue to work hard and study, as grades also form part of the criteria in order to join.
