General administration updates, maintaining member records and ensuring the information we hold is correct. Also complete manual calculations to ensure member's benefits are correct and in line with Scheme rules.
I have developed my problem solving skills extensively through completing manual calculations, which has also enabled me to grow my confidence with Excel.
The support I received from my colleagues at BW while completing my apprenticeship was next to none, as nothing was too much trouble.
The initial learning was fine as majority of this was provided by BW. However, I believe the final stages, namely the gateway period, was very drawn out, the growth company were highly unorganised and left apprentices in the dark until the last minute; which added extremely unnecessary stress onto apprentices.
BW have been extremely supportive throughout my apprenticeship. My team members were always on hand to answer any questions I was unsure of, and I often had discussions with line manager who implemented a mentor where necessary to give me extra support in areas I was struggling.
I found the support from the growth company to be a bit hit and miss. We were passed around multiple tutors from the start which made things rather unstable. The guidance I was provided by one tutor was often contradicted by another leading to extra work having to be completed.
I feel like the qualification has gave me a good foundation knowledge and context to some of the day to day tasks we carry out. However, most of my learning and understand has come from on the job experience.
BW offers a multitude of social events for employees to get involved with after work e.g. payday pint. They also offer plenty of volunteering opportunities to help give back to the community as well as sports groups who meet to play after work.
Yes
It is really rewarding to work for a company who values their staff and provides plenty of opportunities for career growth. The overall culture enables staff of all levels to feel comfortable and accepted in a professional environment.
The opportunities available to you are well worth the application alone, and the people involved in interview/assessment days are really friendly, welcoming and put you at ease.
