My Apprenticeship role is in the FTTP (Fibre to the premises) side of the company, we work on repairs so this means working with CP's and different departments to try and get the fault closed as quickly and as smoothly as possible to get the customer back in service.
Yes, I've learnt more functions within excel, word, power point and even outlook. Before starting at this company I didn't know much about the network and now I know where every piece of equipment in the field is and what it does and what happens if it breaks.
I really enjoy my programme as you're earning a qualification as well as gaining experience and a salary too. It's given me the chance to also meet new people and get involved in different cultures within the office. I would recommend this programme to anyone thinking of applying.
My team is a very new team within Leeds so it's a learning curve everyday but I like a challenge. My coursework and learning side is very well organised we have set dates to hand in any coursework and our tutor is always there is we need to talk to them.
Any issues we may have whether it be work related or personal I know I can go to anyone in the business and ask for help, there are lots of online resources to help too on the employee wellbeing page and who to contact if we feel like we can't talk to someone within the company.
If ever we have any questions at all no matter how little we have a set session twice a month to talk to our tutor. If we feel it can't wait till the next session our tutor always tells us to drop him an email or a message on teams.
I feel like it has rounded my customer service skills, It makes you think about the extra steps you may need to go to to stop any complaints and instead provide an excellent level of customer service. I feel like it's definitely help in my day to day role.
Due to covid we've not really been in the office much during the apprenticeship, but emails go out regularly of online events we can attend. whether it be a quick coffee and a chat or a chance to send questions and get them answered by the CEO
Yes
Openreach has a great apprenticeship programme whether you learn and earn, there are so many diverse people to meet and get to know. You also have a wealth of opportunities and training that you get get involved with if you want to further you career even more to potentially move departments
First of all, just be yourself Definitely! It's nerve wracking in the start but once you feel more confident, make friends who can help you through and support each other. Also take interest in the network once you have learnt this it will make the job so much easier!
